Special Rain Tracker Installation Notes for this vehicle:
HOW THE SYSTEM FUNCTIONS
In the BMW system, the stock wiper switch grounds logic lines from the
Windshield Wiper Module (WWM) to cause the system to enter high and low
speed operation. The switch does not carry wiper motor current. When a
Rain Tracker is installed, it grounds appropriate logic lines in parallel
with the switch. Thus, the WWM thinks the driver is simply the selecting
the right speed. Some models and years may vary slightly in wire colors.
Factory drawings can be wrong, so, confirm wire colors with a multimeter.
All wiper system wires, except +12V, are available at the wiper switch. They
can usually be accessed by removing one or two access panels (Kick Panels) and,
possibly, the shrouds surrounding the steering column.
FIND +12V
For Rain Tracker power (+12V), locate a source of power hot in accessory
or run. Power source should be min. 12-16ga. wire on a 15-25A circuit. This
can be one of the +12V sources as shown on the diagram, or some other accessory
source. The cigarette lighter is often a good +12V source.
